Sixth Framework Programme EU
Nanotechnologies and nano-sciences, knowledge-based functional materials, new production processes and devices (NanoMatPro)
Overview

Intended to help Europe achieve a critical mass of capacities needed to develop and exploit, especially for greater eco-efficiency and reduction of discharges of hazardous substances to the environment, leading-edge technologies for the knowledge-based products, services and manufacturing processes of the years to come.

Main objectives:

Contribution to the creation of the scientific base for the transition of European production industry from resource-based towards knowledge-based, more environment-friendly approaches.

Thematic areas:

  • Nano-technologies and nano-sciences
    • long-term interdisciplinary research into understanding phenomena, mastering processes and developing research tools
    • nanobiotechnologies
    • nanometre scale engineering techniques
    • handling and control devices
    • applications
  • Knowledge-based multi-functional materials
    • development of fundamental knowledge
    • technologies for production, transformation and processing
    • engineering support for materials development
  • New production processes and devices new
    • processes and flexible and intelligent manufacturing systems
    • systems research and hazard control
    • optimising life-cycles

Budget:

The indicative budget allocated to the Thematic Priority Nanotechnologies and nanosciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices for the duration of FP6 is 1.300 MEUR.
